BRAND NEW COURSE
An Introdution to the course.
Way back in the early 2000's, I took a City & Guilds course in paper making, I went every Tuesday evening for a year to Stafford College, I absolutely loved learning how to make paper. I have made many papers in the intervening years and I am thrilled paper making is making a come back.
I believe I have an interesting angle on this craft, due to my textiles experience and practice. I often use my handmade paper in my work, it is especially good in the wet collage technique and when making handmade cards. It's also useful as a background in photography.
This technique is also a wonderful way to recycle paper and bring it to life in a new form.
My wish is to pass on this passion on to you.
The outcome...
Learn how to create stunning papers from recycled paper and found materials.
This course is designed for those of you who love to experiment and explore the multitude of possibilities available to you.
All of the videos are pre-recorded and can be watched any time and as many times as you wish.
You have the course for many years to come.
There are lots of images showing the techniques, materials and equipment required for the course.
You can join my Facebook group for online courses.
There is a comments box at the end of each lesson where you can message me or show me what you have been making.
This course is filled with ideas for creative papers. One lesson shows you how to add leaves and petals to your vat of paper pulp mixture.
I will show you how to use scrap threads and materials to decorate your sheets of paper, along with couching tips to explore different textures and surfaces on the papers you make.
I will show you numerous ways to experiment with texture in your paper. I hope this will light a spark of creativity in your paper making.
Equipment
Your choice of deckle and mould, I give you 5 options to choose between, so you can decide which one will suit you best.
A blender to pulp up the paper, I use a hand-held kitchen blender.
A bowl, sponge, J cloths (or similar), sieve, vat (like a washing up bowl), containers and cups. Most items you will already have in your home or craft stash. I will go into much more detail within the course.
Materials
Scrap paper, fabric scraps, threads, vegetation.
Other Ideas...
There is also a section where I encourage you to explore all sorts of ways to get creative in your paper making, like this technique for grading the colours of papers from one to another.
By the end of the course, you will have the skills to make a vast array of sheets of paper incorporating all sorts of things.
I will also show you how to make a poured paper pulp picture of a landscape like this image of a banana I created.
