This appliqué and free motion machine embroidery course is a perfect next step for stitchers who have completed the beginners Flowers & Grasses course and wish to extend their knowledge of free motion and general textile skills. On this intermediate course you will stitch a bird in a seascape and learn about my textile processes. The star of the course is a Curlew.

About the course!

This intermediate free motion embroidery and applique course will guide you through the many stages and processes I use to create this curlew embroidery. There will be a template of the curlew to download and use along with many short videos taking you step by step through the various stages. You can watch them as many times as you want.
I use hand dyed fabrics, the dyeing is not taught in this workshop but if you wish to learn all of the techniques are shown in the dying course.
I will go into more depth on how to use bondaweb to transfer an image from a drawing. You will learn how to layer up background fabrics and experiment with black and coloured thread. I give you the option to keep it simple or stretch yourself with exciting creative free motion embroidery stitches created by experimenting with tension and thick threads.
You will have the course for at least a year, probably longer.
You can ask me and your fellow students questions and show me and everyone your work by adding a photograph in the comments box under each lesson.
Happy Stitching!
Jo xx
